To Lightning
You spilled juice across the sky
No pas de deux of cloud and wind
No rampaging crescendo
Just a swift, breathtaking blast
Delivered while I waited out the storm
At my screen door
To plunge backward
Surprised thud of charged skin and bones
Dropped like an overdue gift
To be hummed, beaten by your zing
Is one way to be divided and burned
For weeks afterward, under the air
Flavored with pink and orange waltzes
You administered a therapy of charms
Made me respect magic, darkness and the
Narrowness of my soul
